MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ - Senator Vin Gopal, Assemblywoman Margie Donlon, and Assemblywoman Luanne Peterpaul issued the following statement applauding Attorney General Platkin and the Division of Consumer Affairs Acting Director Cari Fais on their announcement of new rules promoting greater transparency in prescription drug pricing.

Senator Gopal stated, “As a co-sponsor of the groundwork legislation for these new rules, I am thrilled to see Attorney General Platkin and Acting Director Fais taking significant steps to address the rising cost of prescription drugs. Transparency in drug pricing is critical to ensuring affordability for New Jerseyans, especially for our most vulnerable populations. We will continue to advocate for price transparency to support affordability and provide the necessary oversight to protect New Jerseyans from skyrocketing drug costs.”

“For too long, New Jersey families have struggled with the unpredictability of prescription drug prices,” shared Assemblywoman Donlon, a practicing physician. “Affordability is often a barrier for patients in getting the care they desperately need. These new rules are a critical step forward in making the drug pricing process more transparent, helping consumers and lawmakers understand the costs behind medications.”

Assemblywoman Peterpaul stated,“The rising cost of prescription drugs has been a major burden on our communities, especially for seniors and low-income families. By promoting transparency, we are providing much-needed relief and taking a stand against the unchecked price increases that have gone on for too long. I am proud to stand with my colleagues and support this initiative to get to the bottom of how we can help make drug prices more affordable for New Jersey residents.”
