TINTON FALLS, NJ - Senator Vin Gopal, Assemblywoman Margie Donlon and Assemblywoman Luanne Peterpaul, D-Monmouth, are partnering with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs to hold office hours weekly for veterans who live in Legislative District 11.
The office hours will run on Wednesdays from noon to 2:15 p.m. in the LD11 office at 331 Newman Springs Road, Building 3, Suite 304, in Red Bank. A representative from the New Jersey Department of Military & Veterans Affairs will be available to assist veterans. Walk-ins are welcome, or you may call our LD11 office, at (732) 704-3808, for information or an appointment.
“Veterans and their families have made great sacrifices for our country. That’s why we partnered with the Department of Veterans and Military Affairs to make sure they have ease of access to veteran services offices and to local agencies and organizations we partner with in Monmouth County that can assist them,” Senator Gopal, Assemblywoman Donlon and Assemblywoman Peterpaul said.
New Jersey offers several property tax assistance programs for veterans.
The Veteran Income Tax Exemption allows eligible veterans to receive a $6,000 tax exemption on their state income tax returns. If you are a veteran who was honorably discharged from the U.S. Armed Forces, or if you are the spouse of a veteran who passed away in the last year, you may be eligible for this exemption.
The state also offers a 100 percent Disabled Veterans Property Tax Exemption for fully disabled, honorably discharged veterans, or their surviving spouses, from paying property taxes for their primary residence.
In addition, veterans and their spouses may qualify for the Veterans Property Tax Deduction, which provides veterans who were honorably discharged with active duty military service, or their surviving spouses, with an annual property tax deduction of $250.
Senator Gopal, Assemblywoman Donlon, and Assemblywoman Peterpaul encourage veterans to come to the office to learn about what they may be eligible for and how to apply. For more information, or to make an appointment to discuss these programs with a member of our Constituent Services Team, please contact our office at (732) 704-3808.
